Last week our Associate Rima Sengupta attended ‘India Day’ at the Houses of Parliament for the launch of UK-India Week 2019 hosted by Manoj Ladwa of India Inc.
The day included speeches in the House of Lords from the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Ruchi Ghanshyam, and UK Cabinet Minister Amber Rudd, among others, and was followed by a networking lunch of ‘Indian fusion’ food. The day’s celebration also included the announcement of India Inc.’s ‘100 Most Influential in UK India Relations’ list for 2019, which highlights 100 leading women and their work and was launched by the UK Home Secretary MP Sajid Javid and the Indian High Commissioner.

Rima Sengupta joined Lawrence Stephens last year and sits on the India desk. She has extensive experience across the range of secured lending transactions. Rima is a member of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry – UK Council and also co-chairs the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) UK.
This past month Rima has completed a number of multi-million pound transactions on behalf of Indian multinational banking and financial services company, ICICI Bank. She has acted for ICICI Bank taking security over multiple leasehold properties in return for a £1.75m loan, has acted in relation to a £1m loan secured over a Caffè Nero in Surrey, and acted for the bank again in obtaining security for a loan of around £1m, secured against a newly constructed block of flats in NE London.
