Meet Abtin

I am a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution department, specialising in commercial and property litigation.

I have experience of taking matters to trial in the High Court and have also been involved in a number of successful appeals before the Court of Appeal.

Experience highlights 

  • Advising and acting for various lenders in connection with obtaining vacant possession and enforcing personal guarantees
  • Advising a lender in respect of its occupation of premises on Old Broad Street and dealing with a claim for dilapidations
  • Acting for a developer and London Local Authority in a High Court Right of Light Claim in respect of a neighbouring development
  • Legget & Ors -v-Giambrone Law LLP (In Liquidation) –€3.5m group litigation claim by 43 claimants against their former solicitors, Giambrone Law (“the Firm”) over its advice the clients in a failed property development that had alleged had links to the Mafia.  It had been alleged that the Firm was under a duty to warn investors of the risks involved in investing in a part of Italy associated with organised crime
  • Acting for a BVI entity (the Applicant) for an order by the Court approving the terms of a contested lease and for it to be executed by a District Judge sitting at Central London County Court on behalf of the Respondent in accordance with section 39 of the Senior Courts Act 1981
  • Successfully obtaining a vesting order against the Crown estate
  • Acting for the proposed Claimant in a £1.2m dilapidations claim in respect of a property in prime Central London valued at in excess of £12m
  • Acting for the applicant challenging the remuneration of a trustee in bankruptcy under Insolvency Rules 18.35 and 18.36 on the basis that the sums sought were excessive and disproportionate
  • Acting for the Claimant in a million-pound claim against a former investment advisor.  The claim included allegations of negligence and fraudulent misrepresentation.  The sum achieved in settlement was more than what counsel had predicted at trial
  • Acting for the successful claimants in various libel claims which have included, Al-Haddad -v- BBC, Sultan Choudhury -v- The Times Newspaper Limited, Huda Television Limited -v- The Henry Jackson Society.
  • Acting for the claimant company against one of its former directors who had embezzled a six-figure sum from the company during his directorship.  The disputed sum was recovered on behalf of the company and was secured against the defendant’s property pending payment in full
  • Obtaining a successful settlement for the claimant in Chancery proceedings in a claim worth £600,000 against the claimant’s son for fraud and the mismanagement of a property portfolio
