Meet Bethan

Bethan joined Lawrence Stephens in 2022 as an Associate in the Family department.

She is adept at advising on Divorce, Financial matters and private Children law work.  Bethan has a particular focus on complex private Children Act proceedings, having built up extensive experience of dealing with complex issues of Parental Alienation.

Bethan also advises on residence disputes, domestic abuse matters and issues of jurisdiction as well as financial arrangements following the breakdown of a relationship, cohabitation agreements and pre and post-nuptial agreements.

Bethan places a strong emphasis on being able to work collaboratively with her clients in order to achieve pragmatic and cost-effective solutions.  Bethan brings a friendly, supportive and direct approach to working with all of her clients.

Outside of work, Bethan is a keen sportswoman, and enjoys spending time with her dog, Blue.  Bethan is also a loyal Welsh Rugby fan and takes every opportunity to take a trip to Cardiff to watch them in action.

Experience highlights

  • Represented a mother in a Children Act dispute.  Successfully persuaded the court that the Father had obstructed and damaged the children’s relationship with the Mother and secured the children’s home with the mother.
  • Acted for a vulnerable wife in Financial Remedy Proceedings, and was able to secure an outcome whereby the Wife retained the lion’s share of the assets.
  • Acted for a father in Children Act proceedings, securing an urgent order preventing the mother from removing the children from England and Wales, in circumstances where the mother had threatened to not return the children to this jurisdiction.
  • Acted for a vulnerable wife who had been physically assaulted by her husband and had been forced to flee the family home.  Bethan secured orders that the husband be removed from the family home, the wife be entitled to exclusively live in the house, and the husband discharge the wife’s legal costs.
  • Represented a father in complex Children Act proceedings whereby concerns were raised of both parties’ mental health.  The matter involved both parties undertaking a Part 25 Psychological Assessment, as well as a Guardian being appointed.  Bethan successfully secured very favourable contact arrangements for the father when at the outset of the matter, mother had refused to allow any form of contact.

"I cannot speak highly enough about Bethan, and what she has done for my family. Bethan’s skillset, the experience she has and her capability is beyond anything I had hoped for. I really couldn’t have achieved what I have without Bethan, and I am forever thankful to Bethan."
