Meet Alanah
I’m a senior business development and marketing executive with a background in art direction and an MSc in Marketing, specialising in consumer psychology. My career spans the legal, tech, hospitality and consultancy sectors, with a consistent focus on understanding people, shaping strategy, and building meaningful, long‑term relationships.
With a degree in graphic design from Falmouth University and a Masters from the University of Exeter, I bring a design‑led, commercially minded approach to business development. I’m particularly interested in how complex professional services can be translated into something more accessible, relevant and human, especially for founders navigating growth, change and risk.
At Lawrence Stephens, I focus on supporting founder‑led and owner‑managed businesses across their lifecycle. I work closely with partners to develop strategic partnerships, grow referral networks, and identify the real challenges founders face, from scaling and structuring for growth, to protecting personal wealth. Much of my role sits at the intersection of insight, relationships and execution: spotting pain points early and connecting founders with the right expertise at the right moment.
I’m co‑editor of The FinePrint, our thought leadership platform for founder‑led businesses, where we bring together legal insight, commercial reality and founder perspectives to demystify the issues that matter most. Alongside this, I support the firm’s Private Wealth and Owner‑Managed Business sectors, contribute to international practice development, and play an active role in shaping the firm’s wider brand and BD strategy.
A committed networker and collaborator, I believe the strongest business development is personal, thoughtful and grounded in genuine understanding.
Outside of work, I’m an avid reader — I’ve kept a book diary since the age of seven — and a keen hiker, always open to new trail recommendations.
