Lawrence Stephens completes wildlife friendly deal

November 2022

Lawrence Stephen’s Commercial Real Estate team have completed the purchase of bare land in Woodford, Northampton. The land was bought so Richard Johnstone could set up his own 4×4 off road driving and training center. He has committed to implementing sustainable and wildlife friendly planting on and around the site.

The transaction was completed by Senior Associate, Angela McCarthy, who was very pleased to act for an enthusiastic individual excited about setting up a new business. The deal was completed in good time, and the application for change of use can now be submitted.

Mr. Johnstone, Buyer, comments on the transaction: “It’s been a pleasure working with Angela on this transaction, and I’m looking forward to getting to work on the land with my digger, creating tracks around the site. An important element in my plan is to service the wildlife and natural habitats around the tracks. There will be wild meadow grasses and wildflower mix as well as trees native to the U.K. dotted around the whole site. Willow trees will complement the water that’s already flowing along the boundary. Bat boxes, bug houses and an area set in the corner with nettles and some well-placed branches for hedgehogs is also in my plans”.

Angela McCarthy, Senior Associate in the Commercial Real Estate team comments on the transaction: “It was great to work with Jan and Richard on this purchase.  Acting for individuals who are excited about starting up their own business and what the future will hold is one of the best parts of my job.  It was always clear to me how keen Richard was to get stuck into preparing the land for the business and how he could do this sustainably and in the most wildlife-friendly way possible”.
